What would you do if someone whom you had never met left you something in their will? Well, that’s the situation Molly finds herself in, and she will have to travel to the island of Corfu in Greece to get the answers she is seeking.
The Synopsis for A Greek Island Gift
An unexpected gift… A home in paradise?
When Molly Adams finds out she’s inherited an apartment in Kassiopi, Corfu, she’s left thinking there must be some mistake. She doesn’t know anyone in Greece at all.
But when she arrives there’s a shock. Molly hasn’t inherited a whole apartment, it’s only 50%. But there’s more – she’s also inherited 50% of a boat, 50% of an olive tree and… 25% of a cat.
Christos Baros is coming home to Corfu for the summer. A self-made entrepreneur, owning three gyms in Athens, he has no need for half an apartment, half a boat, half an olive tree or a quarter of a cat, but he knows these things are important to his mother.
Molly and Christos’s worlds collide in a whirlwind and the irresistible charm of the Greek island draws them even closer together. But as they uncover the secrets of their shared inheritance, will they discover that sometimes, sharing what you never wanted can lead to exactly what you need?
This summer, join Molly and Christos in Corfu as they try to work out if one shared Greek gift will turn into a shared future. Perfect for fans of Sue Moorcroft and Jenny Colgan.

More about A Greek Island Gift
Imagine an official letter landing on your doorstep informing you that someone you don’t know has left you something in their will.
This is the dilemma Molly faces as she tries to understand why anyone would do such a thing when she receives word that a man named Vaggelis Vlachos has left her something in his will. The strange part is she has never even been to Corfu, so how does he know her?
It soon becomes apparent, however, that this is not a mistake and that her mother actually knew Vaggelis Vlachos. This leads Molly to question whether this mystery man might have anything to do with her parentage, something her mother has always refused to discuss.
Intrigued and slightly apprehensive, Molly, her mother, and her best friend jump on a plane to discover more about Vaggelis and her potential inheritance.
At the same time, in Corfu, Christos, a driven and enigmatic entrepreneur who left the island to create a new life in Athens, has also been told that he features in the will of his godfather.
Having never met before, after the will reading, Molly and Christos have to navigate the complexities of inheritance together. Vaggelis has left each of them a mixture of his possessions, including half an apartment, a boat, a share in a cat, and an olive tree.
As Molly and Christos navigate the awkwardness of their joint inheritance, they begin to uncover the tangled histories of their families—and of themselves. What starts as a frustrating partnership gradually develops as both are forced to confront old wounds, let go of past expectations, and consider the possibility of a different future.
My Thoughts on A Greek Island Gift
A Greek Island Gift is most certainly a character-driven tale where Molly is portrayed as down-to-earth and slightly weary from all the emotional baggage she carries.
Christos, on the other hand, starts off as distant and emotionally closed-off, burdened by family responsibilities but also the weight of his secret success. Therefore, watching how both characters develop and learn to trust again is the main focus of this heart-warming novel.
At the same time, the descriptions of the Greek landscape, from the inviting beaches to the little villages, the tavernas, and the local community, create an enticing backdrop for the story.
It is a narrative that explores themes of unexpected change, emotional healing, and the power of new beginnings while delving into how people handle grief, responsibility, and the fear of vulnerability.
With charming characters and a beautiful setting, this is the perfect summertime read. Mandy Baggot offers readers a compelling reminder that sometimes the best gifts come when we least expect them.
