I really like the book I found amazing the way in which the author describes Germany just by telling us his own life.

He does not need to tell us literally how Germany was at that moment.

In reply to Michele. It was a great book to read. It's a shame that we forget Germany was a country that many people, including the British, loved and moved to before war started. Isherwood, although he wrote many books is relatively unknown so amazon may be you best bet if you are looking for a copy! :)

How interesting we seem to forget the Germany existed before the wars and have an amazing history and culture. I might see if I can track this book down 🙂

It was an enjoyable read and being only a couple of hundred pages wasn’t time consuming either 🙂
