St. Ermins looks absolutely wonderful – I’m always hunting for new afternoon tea places in London. Have you tried the Chesterfield Mayfair? They change their afternoon tea theme each season, so it’s a fun place to keep going back to.

I confess – they had jam and cream as well and if you wanted more you only needed to ask. For me, a scone has to have jam and plenty of clotted cream added to fully be appreciated! 😀

In reply to Meg Jerrard. This was our first afternoon tea experience because I always felt I would be overwhelmed with the elegance of it all. In fact, it was a lovely relaxing afternoon with a spot of luxury thrown in. I am going to attempt to head back during the summer months to experience their teas then which sound refreshing and potentially a bit lighter. :)

I loooove tea and can’t imagine a day without a cup or two! St Ermins Hotel looks like a perfect scenery to enjoy the afternoon tea 🙂

Thanks for a great insight into the history behind afternoon tea! I’ve always had stopping for high tea in the UK on my bucket list but have never had the chance to actually do it yet. All seems very elegant and refined!! Thanks for the tips on where to go!
